Overnight walks
These are walks that would be doable from Hobart in a weekend.
Huon Valley & Southern Ranges:
- Lake Skinner and Snowy South: access roads supposed to be fine for 2WD and track start is well-marked. Camping is possible at the outfall of Lake Skinner. More info here.
- Woolleys Tarn and Nevada Peak: supposed to be nice camping at Woolleys Tarn. Track marked on topo but not clear how obvious it is on ground. Further details here.
- Lake Riveaux and Mt Picton?
- Square Tarn: "best campsite in Tasmania" according to one friend! Sounds like access road is steep and rough, and track is not clearly marked. Need to chase this up.
- Lake Sydney and Mt Bobs?
- Adamson Pk: sounds like there might be somewhere to camp up there, in decent weather
- Moonlight Ridge: camp at Moonlight Ck or Pigsty Ponds.
- South Cape Rivulet: the last day of the South Coast Track. About 4 hours either way. DONE. Link for shorter daywalk.
Mt Field
- Tarn Shelf Circuit: camp at Twilight Tarn. My first overnight walk after getting CFS!
- Mt Field East
- Mt Field West
- Florentine and Tyenna Peaks
Lake St Clair
South-West
- Mt Eliza/Anne
- Lake Judd - walked Feb 2014. About 4 hrs walking time each way. Amazing spot to camp.
- Schnells Ridge: offtrack
Tasman Peninsula
- Fortescue Bay
- Cape Raoul?
- Cape Pillar
Maria Island
Freycinet Peninsula
Douglas-Apsley?
